• Tri Viet’s ambition is to create a vibrant and environment-friendly campus that will become an integral part of the site where it is hosted. As an institution of higher learning and a newcomer, Tri Viet has both the responsibility and opportunity to champion the environmental cause in Viet Nam. In an age when our global village is facing increasing environmental challenges, we believe that young people need an education that will shape them into conscientious adults ready and capable to address those challenges.

  We feel it our duty to participate in this nationwide effort. Our vision is to create a modern campus that will attract students and the community for its sustainability philosophy through education and training. Our campus will be able to respond from the onset to the competing demands and full range needs of a university – research, teaching, student support facilities and residences – while upholding the commitments of a sustainable educational institution by integrating sustainability factors into its physical structure, governance and operation, curriculum, research and community engagement as a whole.

• Our campus and facilities will be built with the “greenest” available and affordable planning, materials and technology. Maximal use of natural ventilation and light will be sought. Except for campus shuttles, we are aiming for an all-pedestrian campus.

• Our buildings will serve interdisciplinary teaching, learning and research, with multifunctional classrooms and spaces reserved for interactive/collaborative activities and available to all –faculty, staff, students and visitors. Easy and special access serving the physically impaired is a must.

• Our curriculum will span a broad range of environmental disciplines, especially those related to the impact of climate change. Over their four years with Tri Viet undergraduates from all majors will be required to participate in ecological projects to anchor in them the green mindset as well as inspire them towards more in-depth “green studies”.

• Our governance and operation will observe all-applicable conservation rules be it in land use, water use, energy, waste management, vehicle parking, and others.

• Tri Viet will cultivate a “green” behavior and mindset in the students and university population so that everyone on campus is a good global citizen in terms of social and ecological behavior. “To be green” will come not only by way of the physical environment and appropriate curriculum but through practices and lifestyle as well. Only by acting responsibly towards the earth and its inhabitants, starting with the university campus itself and how it is conceived, designed, built and operated, would Tri Viet contribute meaningfully to the education of young Vietnamese into enlightened citizens of Viet Nam and of the world.(read Outcome- Tri Viet International Conference “What Makes a Green University in Viet Nam”)

We believe a sustainable way of learning and living will allow the students, faculty, staff, and citizens who work, learn, and live on and around our campus to gain a new dimension to their Tri Viet experience, and, more importantly, an increased and informed appreciation of the world they live in.
