Tri Viet has the ambition to be the first green, resource efficient and environment-friendly campus in Viet Nam and to build sustainability into all aspects of its operation.
Tri Viet aims to be a center of academic and pedagogic excellence in Viet Nam. First, by striving for maximum academic autonomy as a sine qua non of educational quality. Second, by promoting transdisciplinary approaches based on foundational knowledge and skills (traditionally known in Western institutions as Liberal Arts and Sciences) subjects (e.g., Critical Thinking, Creative Writing, Problem Solving, etc); concurrently, fundamentals of Vietnamese Studies will help anchor the Vietnamese students’ awareness of their roots and identity as they embark on discovering the world. Tri Viet is convinced these initiatives will help equip its graduates with the right kind of intellect, one balancing specialization with an all-around humanistic education.
Tri Viet will at first focus on teaching and training to meet the immediate needs of the economy. At the same time, recognizing that no university can aim for excellence without combining teaching with research Tri Viet will gradually build up applied research and development as well as incubation into its operation. A hallmark of multilingual proficiency Tri Viet aims to become a hub of international exchanges, and, especially, of overseas Vietnamese academic engagement.
Tri Viet aspires to be a model of university governance, enforcing strict standards of intellectual and ethical rigor based on peer review and quality assurance measurements; fostering a healthy competitive spirit while at the same time building team spirit through teamwork, extra-curricular activities including humanitarian and philanthropic work and a residential college campus lifestyle.
A private university explicitly dedicated to public service, Tri Viet will be one of the country’s first social enterprises combining professional training with education of students into citizens endowed with character, integrity and a sense of social responsibility. While upholding the highest academic standards Tri Viet is committed to facilitating access to all deserving students. Tri Viet hopes to infuse an alumni spirit in students, faculty and staff making studying and working at Tri Viet an memorable experience defined by the Tri Viet tradition and pride.
Tri Viet is undertaking the formal procedures for location in the vicinity of Ho Chi Minh City. Though intent on recruiting nation and region-wide, Tri Viet will remain mid-size, with a student body projected at about 10,000(over ten years) .
As a private university Tri Viet plans to rely on four main sources of funding:

- Donations
- Tuition fees and income generating services
Tri Viet International University’s launch is planned for late 2013.
